The payment is held in Stripe, our payment processor. Nobody is paid until the ticket has arrived: the buyer taps Got it, or we confirm it with the seller.
Seller transfers the ticket.
In the Go IU app, to the buyer, using the name and phone or iu.edu email we give you. Same as sending it to a friend.
Buyer confirms. Seller gets paid.
The ticket shows up, the buyer taps confirm, and we release every dollar of the asking price to the seller.
Ticket never shows up?
We check with the seller, and if it didn't arrive, you get every dollar back, $3 fee included. No arguing in the DMs.
Why it's safe
Snapchat has no receipts. SafeSeat has three rules, and none of them bend.
- Verified students only
- Every account is verified with an iu.edu email. No randoms, no burner accounts, no "my cousin has one."
- Money held until delivery
- Payments are held in Stripe, our payment processor, until the ticket is in your account. No delivery, no payment. That's the whole idea.
- Flat $3. Sellers pay no SafeSeat fees.
- Buyers pay $3 per ticket. Sellers list free and keep their full asking price.
